I thought that chapters seven through nineteen were sad and depressing. I thought it was sad when Ona got raped at work by her boss and then when Jurgis went to her work and beat him. Jurgis went to jail and it was gross there. The small cells with bug infested mattresses were what they had to live with. That was horrible and disgusting. I thought it was cute when they had their first baby Antanas and then when she had her second one and both Ona and the baby died at the second birth. It is sad how the whole family lost their home and jobs. They had to move and it was sad that they had a new baby and they had to move to the boarding house. The baby died because Ona didn’t have a midwife and she needed one. Now Jurgis is like an alcoholic and takes Kotrina’s money to go get drunk. I thought with the baby, Ona, and Kristofora’s death that these chapters were depressing and also how everyone lost their jobs and they lost their houses. If Teta Elzbieta’s son died from eating bad meat then I wouldn’t eat meat after that. These chapters are very sad and I hope that Antanas doesn’t die.

The Bell Jar
I started to read the book The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath. So far this book is about a girl and her friends being in high school. They go and hang out and they smoke cigarettes and they drink. The main character is under the name as Elly, but th at’s not her real name. They call her Elly because she didn’t want to tell the guys her real name and where she was really from. They spend all night out and they order drinks. They order drinks and get drunk. Elly only orders straight vodka. Then they go over to Lenny who is Doreen’s boyfriend. Doreen and Elly are staying in a hotel together. When they go over to Lenny’s house Doreen is drunk and her and Lenny and they bite each others ears and take off shirts, it’s weird. Then why they are doing that Elly walks back to her hotel which is forty-three by five blocks away. By the time she gets back to her hotel she is sober. When she gets home she goes and gets in the bath. She likes really hot baths, like as hot to where it may burn you to put your foot in. She sits in the bath and feels that it makes her feel purer. Elly gets out and then goes to bed. Later on that night she hears knocking at her door and she hears someone calling her name. Doreen is at her door. She doesn’t feel like getting up so she waits awhile. She then gets up and she carries her in the door. Doreen is so drunk and so she puts her on the floor because she starts puking. She leaves her there for the night and when she wakes up in the morning the puke is cleaned up and Doreen is no longer in the hallway. She woke up in the early morning and she went to her bed.

The Jungle chapters 4-6
My partners are Bre and Alyssa.
I felt that chapter four was going pretty good. In this chapter Jurgis was talking about how he thought that children should go to school and get an education. I think that they should because to get an education would be good for them because we learned that knowledge is power. Therefore if the children go to school and get an education then they will eventually gain knowledge. I agree with Jurgis.
In chapter five some people were complaining about their jobs. The meatpacking industry is nasty and i find it disgusting.
In chapter six it was about Ona and Jurgis getting a house. The bad part of this chapter was that the realtor lied to them about paying interest. They had got the house and talked to the old lady who told them about the house and the past of it. She also told them that they had to pay interest on the house and they looked at the deed and they had to pay $12 a month plus the $7 interest. Though the old lady didn't have to pay interest because they lied about her son and how much he makes.
I think that this is a weird book.........
